The Fall Sturgeon Bay Open Bass Tournament returned this
last year September 7-9th after a one year hiatus. 53 teams competed
in this event that though it is mainly for fun, its competitors take it very
seriously and it shows. Incredibly, the winning two day total weight was almost
the same from the spring tournament, 51.57 lbs. that is a difference of only .04
lbs! Jody Robillard and Mike Gottheardt took first place. They took home cash
and prizes valued at over $7,000. Second place went to Caleb Colwell and Chad
Adrains with a weight of 46.04 lbs and a record breaking big bass on Saturday of
6.46 lbs! Way to go Chad Adrains! Jim Ash and Jason Stenzel took third place
with 43.09 lbs. Big bass on Sunday was 4.78 lbs and went to Mike Gottheardt. We
plan to have this tournament again annually the weekend after Labor Day. It is
limited to 100 teams.
